Apply as an LPO Musician

Although we do not have auditions, we recommend that prospective string musicians:

· Be able to play through Suzuki Book 5 for violins, 4 for violas, cellos, and basses

· Be familiar with different bowing techniques (e.g., spiccato, tenuto)

· Be able to play all 2 octave scales up to four flats and sharps

· Be familiar with playing in the higher positions (shifting).

Interested in joining, but your instrument isn't listed? We would still like to hear from you as we are filling up our volunteer substitute musician roster! The LPO performs five main concert cycles in October, December, March, May, and end of June/early July. We take a break after our summer concert (July-August) and after our winter concert (mid to end of December).
