Sarah Koenig-Plonskier, 17, began her violin studies at the age of 4 at the Longy School of Music and currently studies with Yuri Mazurkevich. She has also studied with Victor Danchenko, Kimberly Fisher, Fudeko Takahashi, and Jennifer Elowich.
Her Harbison Quintet worked firsthand with John Harbison, and the ensemble has performed live on the WBGH Noontime series and on the "From the Top" radio show (the performance can currently be heard at www.fromthetop.org). Ms. Koenig-Plonskier was a Finalist in the 2004 New England Conservatory Concerto Competition. She recently partnered with Jonathan McPhee in an innovative program for bringing classical music to Boston inner city schools. Ms. Koenig-Plonskier is a junior at Walnut Hill School in Natick, MA, and is a member of Benjamin Zander’s New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, which will tour Brazil and Venezuela in June 2005.
