Sarah Koenig-Plonskier is an active musician. She is a member of Axiom, a renowned contemporary ensemble at Juilliard, as well as the New Juilliard Ensemble, and has recently performed at Lincoln Center’s Peter J. Sharp Theater and Paul Hall at The Juilliard School. In addition to this evening’s performance with The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, Ms. Koenig-Plonskier has appeared as guest soloist with The Boston Pops Orchestra, conducted by Keith Lockhart, The Brockton Symphony, The Quincy Symphony Orchestra, The Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra.

She was Concertmaster of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of the New England Conservatory led by Benjamin Zander and has performed with the Walnut Hill String Quartet in live radio broadcasts from Boston’s Symphony Hall on WGBH. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Harry and Marion Dubbs Brookline Youth Concerts Award as first place winner in the Boston Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and The Frances B. Lanier Award from The New England Conservatory.

Ms. Koenig-Plonskier has been closely involved in programs that help to bring music to disadvantaged communities, both in the United States and abroad. She has partnered with Boston Ballet Conductor Jonathan McPhee in a Community Leadership Program to bring classical music to Boston area inner city schools. She traveled to France, Guatemala, Panama, Brazil and Venezuela with the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra on tours aimed at bridging cultural, language, and socioeconomic gaps with music and performance.

Ms. Koenig-Plonskier is currently in her third year at The Juilliard School where she studies with Joel Smirnoff. She previously studied with Yuri Mazurkevich.

She is pleased to return to The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, where she first appeared in 2005 performing the Khachaturian Violin Concerto in D Minor.
