Philippa (Pippa) Jarvis

A native of Canada, Philippa (Pippa) Jarvis, 18, began her violin studies at the age of two with her parents. She is currently a senior at Walnut Hill where she studies with Magdalena Richter. Pippa came to Walnut Hill from Milton (Massachusetts) High School where she was awarded the Music Department Leadership Award, the Marc Susi Award for Citizenship, gold medal in the school science fair, Honorable Mention in the National Latin Exam, and nominated to the National Future Leaders Conference. She is a four-time gold medal winner in the Milton Young Musicians Festival.

Pippa has been a student in the New England Conservatory Preparatory Program since Grade 1, participating in the Suzuki violin classes and as member of each orchestra holding positions of concertmaster or principal second violin. In 2004 she was a finalist in the New England Conservatory Category B Concerto Competition. She is currently a member of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra under Benjamin Zander, with whom she toured China last summer. She toured Italy with the Youth Symphony Orchestra under Steven Karidoyanes.

Pippa spent the last five summers at the Cleveland Institute of Music camp Encore where she was a student of Linda Cerone and David Russell, and at the chamber music camp Greenwood.

An avid lacrosse player, Pippa played for Massachusetts at the USA Nationals and was Captain of the Milton JV team. Her hobbies are kayaking and wake boarding.
