Lucy is a dedicated and longtime member of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. Principal violist of GBYSO’s Senior Orchestra, Lucy has participated in international tours to Russia, Estonia and Latvia in 2004, and Portugal and Spain in 2006. In the summer of 2008, Lucy will travel with the orchestra to Europe, where they have been invited to perform at the world-renowned Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Germany.
Lucy is an active chamber musician at both GBYSO and New England Conservatory. Her NEC string quartet is coached by the Conservatory’s ensemble-in-residence, the Boston Trio. Last spring, Lucy’s Arenaria Quintet was awarded Second Prize in the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition. This past January, her GBYSO quintet performed at Governor Deval Patrick’s Inaugural Celebration.
Over the past seven summers, Lucy has attended Kinhaven Music School, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Soundfest Chamber Music Festival, Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s String Quartet Workshop, and The Quartet Program with Charles Castleman at Bucknell University and SUNY Fredonia.
A junior at Concord Academy, Lucy is concertmaster of her school orchestra and founder of the Arts Outreach Club, an organization devoted to bringing music, theater, and poetry to the greater community. She is also active as a violinist for numerous school theater productions and dance performances. In addition to her musical pursuits, Lucy enjoys reading, writing, and taking walks with her two dogs.
