"Land & Sea" Concert featuring guest performers!
Friday, March 15th @ 8PM

Gale Fuller, mezzo-soprano, has enjoyed a career in concert and opera for over thirty years. She has graced the stages of many of our American regional opera houses and orchestras and ventured beyond the borders to include singing engagements in China, Japan and Germany. Hailed by audiences and critics alike for the sumptuousness of her singing, she has been described as the “sultriest voice in town” by the Boston Globe.
In the past few seasons, Ms. Fuller has been lauded for her performances at the Cabrillo Festival in California under the baton of Marin Alsop in programs of contemporary works, such as Thomas Ades’, America: A Prophecy and Sophie’s Suite, of Nicholas Maw. She also returned to China for performances of Elgar’s, Sea Pictures, along with recitals and master classes in five cities. Recently, Ms. Fuller sang Mahler’s, Das Lied von der Erde, with Symphony Pro Musica and appeared in recital at MIT’s, Killian Hall, and the Kalliroscope Gallery series. This winter past, she sang Haydn’s, Harmoniemesse with the Indian Hill orchestra and Rachmaninoff, Vespers with combined choirs of Wellesley College and Cornell University. She also appeared on the artists’ series at Wellesley College singing the chamber music of Charles Loeffler, and finishing up the season with Verdi's, Requiem.
Ms. Fuller’s operatic and concert work has been most varied. She has performed such roles as Rosina, in Barbiere di Siviglia, Composer, in Ariadne auf Naxos, Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito, Cherubino, in Le Nozze di Figaro, Adalgisa, in Norma, Maddalena, in Rigoletto, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti, and the title role in Carmen, with such companies as Boston Lyric Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Colorado, Sacramento Opera, Opera San Jose, Opera South, Syracuse Opera, Opera Boston and the Lake George Opera Festival among others. Favorite orchestral works include Verdi’s, Requiem, Dvorak, Requiem, Ravel, Sheherezade, the Luciano Berio, Folk Songs, Mahler, Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen, Das Lied von der Erde, and the 8th symphony, the last of which brought her again to Boston’s Symphony Hall and New York’s Carnegie Hall with the Boston Philharmonic.
Ms. Fuller’s passion for teaching has grown right alongside her professional singing career. She has served on the faculties of Brandeis University and Gordon College prior to joining the Wellesley faculty several years ago.
Ms. Fuller holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and the New England Conservatory of Music. She is a winner of the Liederkranz competition and the International Center for Contemporary Opera under whose auspices she was presented in recital at Carnegie Hall. She has been named by Musical America as an outstanding artist.
